Weaving workshop for beginners! Learn about weaving while creating your own table mat. Weaving produces textiles by interlacing two or more pieces of yarn, thread, or other material into a fabric or cloth. In this 2.5 hr weaving workshop, you will weave a table mat approximately 11” x13”. Instructor will introduce plain weave, and show how the simplest and basic weave form can bring many possibilities for making the most stable of fabrics such as table mats, scarves and more. We will prepare different types of yarn, thread, upcycled materials for you to choose from. You can also feel free to bring your fabric for upcycling (requires pre-workshop, DM us for inquiries). We will be using rigid heddle loom (Cricket 15” loom from Schacht Company (US)). The instructor will introduce the setup of the loom and guide you basic design, color choice’s, weaving steps and finishing techniques. Date: every Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday Time: 2.30pm to 5pm Fee: 400 HKD per session Minimum number of participants: two (if you're coming solo, GAC will confirm the session when someone else books the same timeslot at least 48 hours in advance of the workshop date. Instructor: Lisa Wong Lisa’s weaving skills came from Guilds in Ontario, Canada, and she has been a weaver and spinner since 2019 in Singapore. While having a corporate job weaving gives her a sense of calm, and using her hands to make crafts is an unspoken joy which she wants to share with people.
